Onlangs, Ute Decker, een ethische juwelier uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk, mailde me een PDF van een groene sieraden productie gids die ik nooit had gezien — van een agentschap een halve mijl van mijn eigen winkel in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Het document werd in geproduceerd 2002, ver voor de huidige groene curve, as part of the “Green Zia” program. Much of its focus is on casting operations, but it is relevant to any jewelry manufacturer.

I called our state offices and spoke with Michelle Vitano, of the Green Zia program. She told me that the information is freely open for distribution without worry of infringement of copyright. Two weeks later, Ms. Vitano generously visited my shop, reviewing the chemicals and compounds that we use in our production. This service would be available to others who live in New Mexico.
