Madison Dialogue Colored Gemstone Working Group
One of the outcomes of the Madison Dialog were several working groups, metals, refining, manufacturing, diamonds, and colored gemstones. The objective is to develop standards for for gemstone mining based on environmental and socially responsible principals. The outcome might be a third party certified fair trade gemstone.
For those who are passionate about these issues, this is a great opportunity to have a voice in what will surely over time become an essential component in the movement to create ethical sourcing in the jewelry sector.
Peggy Jo Donahue, Director of Public Affairs for Jewelers of America, is heading this committee and a teleconference is scheduled for Monday, February 25th.
If you would like to participate in this conference, email me, Marc Choyt, at [email protected] and I will forward your information on.
