“Ethical Jewelry Trend” in the International Herald Tribune

Vivien Johnston, the founder of Fifi Bijoux, is featured in the article. She attended the Ethical Jewelry Summit in Washington DC.
This is fantastic publicity and we need lots of coverage of this kind in order to awaken the market to what is taking place in the mainstream jewelry sector. Demand will create supply.
As an aside, however, I am not at ease about the direction of this movement solely toward luxury products, which has been the trend so far.
Those of us who are interested in selling to the middle class, which is my market, are also going to need to include companies that can provide low and middle price gems.
I would like to see fair trade jewelry as common as fair trade coffee– but that is going to take some time.
