London Jewellery Week kicks off with cocktails
Today sees the kick off of London Jewellery Week at Goldsmiths Hall. The great and the good of the British Jewellery scene will be showcasing their talents and it promises to be an exciting week. For my part I shall be haunting the show on the look out for new talent as well as any significant ethical developments and on the look out for jewellers who want to embrace the fairtrade gold evolution that is currently in development within the UK scene. If you know anyone who may be interested in becoming a Fairtrade Gold License holder then do pass my details onto them asking them to get in touch.
One new feature this year will be Treasure will be the ethical debate forum that I will be hosting on 12 June at 2pm Victoria House, Southampton Row, Bloomsbury Square. WC1B 4DA. The debate will revolve around the critical question of defining ethics within the jewellery landscape and the panel of Pippa Small, Estelle Levin, Christian Cheesman, Ute Decker, Clare Winfield and Simon Gilbert it promises to be an engaging and I trust sparky debate.
The UK in my estimation is the maturest ethical jewellery market in the world at the current time, this pioneering spirit needs to continue and it is forums like these that are now embedded into the jewellery psyche that keep us moving forward and continually pushing the boundaries for the industry as whole.
So make sure you get along to the Treasure event on the Saturday and contribute to our discussion, if only for my sake, please come ready to stir the pot.
